Frequently Asked Questions
Can I Cancel an Order After Placing It?
We ship orders very quickly in order to get them to you as soon as possible (with a bit extra time during major promotions/sales). Therefore, orders cannot be canceled once placed, except where required by applicable law. Please review your order carefully before completing your purchase.
Can I Return Products or Receive a Refund?
Please review our complete return policy.
Why Don’t You Have a Phone Number?
Elaa is a very small company made up of only a few lovely people.
Yaelle—the founder, owner, formulator, and sole customer-care provider—spends much of her time crafting products and caring for every aspect of Elaa, so she is unable to remain beside a telephone throughout the day.
She will respond to messages as quickly as possible during business hours, generally within 48 hours and usually much sooner.
Do You Offer Samples?
We do not offer individual samples for purchase, but we do our best to include complimentary samples with orders over $150.
Can I Use Elaa Products During Pregnancy or Breastfeeding?
Some Elaa products contain essential oils in very small, carefully diluted amounts.
Most essential-oil concentrations are approximately 0.36% or below. These concentrations are significantly lower than recommended safe amounts.
Concentrated rosemary, oregano, lemongrass, and clary sage oils are often approached cautiously during pregnancy. Ilea Hair Serum contains rosemary and clary sage in very small, diluted amounts. Those choosing an especially conservative routine may prefer to pause this product during pregnancy, particularly during the first trimester, or review its ingredients with a prenatal healthcare professional.
Fresh Breeze Ozonated Oral Care Gel contains tea tree and other concentrated aromatic oils and is intended for oral care rather than ordinary topical application. Those choosing an especially cautious first-trimester routine may also prefer to pause Fresh Breeze.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding decisions are highly individual and can depend on the product, method of use, skin condition, frequency of application, and personal medical history.
Yaelle is happy to answer questions about Elaa formulas and ingredient concentrations. Individual pregnancy and breastfeeding decisions should also be discussed with a qualified prenatal healthcare professional who knows your personal health history.
Do your products contain essential oils?
Any products that do not say Essential Oil Free do contain a very low percentage of essential oils.
Genuine essential oils are natural extracts obtained directly from botanicals. They are valued for their aromas and their role in skincare and aromatherapy. Many people think that because they are natural, they can be used without knowledge or guidance, and this is not the case. They are potent and must be used with care.
Essential oils are beautiful plant actives with so many incredible properties for skin, aromatherapy, and household use. I have used them for 25 years in all of these ways and I use them in some Elaa formulas for the qualities they bring.
But, take caution, you cannot trust all essential oils.
The name on a bottle alone does not tell you an oil’s authenticity, purity, or quality. This is why I am so particular about sourcing.
They must be of the most exquisite quality I can source. They must be organic, if possible. They must be genuine. All of ours are chosen with these standards in mind.
They must be diluted at appropriate ratios, especially if they will be used on your body. They must be used expertly in skincare to help minimize the potential for skin sensitivity or irritation. I have been working with these botanical ingredients for 25 years. I understand the science and art of using them thoughtfully within a complete formula.
The beautiful products that do contain them are all at a maximum of 0.36% or below of the total formula. Most are well below this amount. I choose the amount for each oil and each formula with care, with the intention of creating a beautiful, gentle skincare experience.
The reason for care is that they are concentrated plant actives. We use them sparingly, and individual sensitivities can still occur.
We also have many products that do not include essential oils if you do not want them. Those will all be marked as Essential Oil Free.
How Do I Know Whether the Products Will Work for Me?
Everyone is beautifully unique, and every complexion responds differently.
It may take time for skin to become familiar with a new skin-care ritual. When a product feels comfortable, use it consistently for approximately one month before reassessing its cosmetic benefits.
Introducing products one at a time also makes it easier to observe how each formula works within the ritual.
Yaelle, Elaa’s founder, owner, and formulator, is available to answer questions and offer product-selection guidance throughout the process.
Do You Offer Coupons or Discounts?
Sign up for our mailing list to receive 10% off your first order.
Additional coupons and special offers are shared periodically by email, so please join and remain subscribed to the Elaa mailing list to receive them.
Can a Sale Discount Be Applied to an Order I Recently Placed?
We are sorry, but discounts cannot be applied retroactively to completed or shipped orders.
Once an order has been processed, we cannot reopen it to add a later promotion because of the additional payment-processing requirements, fees, and administrative time involved.
Sales are announced through email and the Elaa Instagram account. If one promotion is missed, another opportunity will eventually arrive.
What Is the Shelf Life of Elaa Products?
Please use oils and dry products within one year.
Products with an aloe or hydrosol base should be used within eight months.
After the Rain and Fresh Breeze should be refrigerated.
Superfruit Siren Mask and Pineapple Mask are also best refrigerated to help preserve their naturally vibrant fruit colors.
Do You Ship Internationally?
Yes. Elaa ships to most countries throughout the world.
Are Elaa Products Created for Sensitive Skin?
Elaa offers formulas created with sensitive and highly reactive-looking skin in mind, including essential-oil-free options.
Every person and complexion is different. For highly sensitive skin, introduce only one new product at a time and use it for at least five days before adding another product to the ritual.
A small-area patch test can also help determine how an individual formula feels before it is applied more broadly.
Why Doesn’t My Product Look or Smell Exactly Like the Previous One?
Elaa products are handcrafted from naturally derived botanical ingredients.
Natural colors can soften or evolve over time, and seasonal or source variations in an ingredient may create subtle differences in the aroma, texture, or color of a finished product.
These variations are a normal part of freshly handcrafted botanical skin care.
Will My Products Be Okay During Summer or Warm Weather?
Miron violet glass helps protect Elaa’s botanical formulas from UV-light exposure.
Short periods of ordinary summer shipping temperatures may soften certain products or change their texture without altering their intended cosmetic use.
The greatest concern is sustained exposure to extreme temperatures above 130°F combined with direct UV light. Products enclosed within their shipping box are protected from direct sunlight during transit.
Elaa places “Protect from Heat” stickers on packages during warmer months. Optional ice packs can be added in your bag before checkout for $5 per pack. We use one pack per meltable item: After The Rain, Fresh Breeze, Morning Dew, and Luna Lip Balm. The pack quantity follows the eligible items in your bag, including meltable items in sets. You can choose standard or expedited shipping where available.
My Product Arrived Melted—Is It Okay?
Yes. Some Elaa products naturally soften or melt when exposed to warm temperatures.
A brief melt-and-resolidify cycle primarily changes the product’s texture or appearance. Follow the product-specific directions below to restore its intended consistency.
After the Rain and Fresh Breeze
Sustained temperatures above 130°F combined with UV-light exposure present the greatest risk to the stability of ozonated oils.
After the Rain is housed in Miron violet glass to help limit UV-light exposure.
If After the Rain or Fresh Breeze arrives completely liquid, place the unopened container in the refrigerator and allow it to solidify for several hours before opening.
These products leave the Elaa studio completely solid with a flat, smooth surface, but they may melt during transit and resolidify into an uneven shape.
If a product arrives partially liquid or solidified unevenly, secure the lid very tightly and place the closed container in a warm-water bath for a few minutes, keeping the water below the lid.
Once the product has liquefied evenly, move it gently to the refrigerator and leave it undisturbed for several hours. It should return to a smooth, solid surface.
Luna Lip Balm & Morning Dew Balm:
When crafting, they begin as a liquid and we chill them until they becomes a solid balm. If it arrives as a liquid due to heat, place in refrigerator and allow to solidify for at least 8 hours before opening the jar. If it is only partially melted or melted and resolidified and has an odd texture or shape. Make sure the lid is on tightly first. Place it in a warm water bath that goes below where the lid starts for a few minutes. Once liquid, place in refrigerator very gently and leave it for 8 hours or more, without moving or shaking the jar. Now, use at room temperature or leave refrigerated in hot weather.
My Liquid Product Arrived Solidified—Is It Okay?
Yes. Some liquid products naturally thicken or solidify when exposed to cold temperatures.
Temporary cold-related solidification generally changes the texture rather than the product’s intended cosmetic use.
Warm the bottle gradually by holding it between warm hands, wrapping it in a warm towel, or placing it in a bowl of warm water.
Once the formula has softened, unscrew the top and use the pump stem to stir it gently.
Then allow it to bless your beloved skin.
What Are Normal Fill Levels for Products in Jars?
The threaded area at the top of a jar is not part of its designated fill volume.
The complete stated volume fits below the threads. If the product extends into or above the threaded area, you have received a little extra bounty.
What About PUFAs in Topical Skin Care?
The subject of polyunsaturated fatty acids, or PUFAs, is not black and white.
Concerns surrounding the dietary consumption of certain seed oils do not automatically apply to their topical cosmetic use. The skin’s natural lipid structure contains a range of fatty acids, including PUFAs, and the properties of a botanical oil vary significantly according to its plant source, fatty-acid profile, extraction method, freshness, and stability.
A peer-reviewed review published in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences examined numerous plant oils and found that selected oils can support the skin barrier, provide antioxidant activity, replenish skin-conditioning lipids, and complement the skin’s natural protective functions when applied topically.
Excluding every unsaturated botanical oil from topical skin care would also eliminate valuable sources of essential fatty acids, antioxidants, and other plant compounds that support moisture retention, barrier comfort, softness, and a smoother, more supple-looking complexion.
Sea buckthorn, rosehip, raspberry, pomegranate, argan, marula, jojoba, prickly pear, plum kernel, amla, goji, meadowfoam, and Abyssinian are among the exceptional specialty oils selected by Elaa for their distinctive cosmetic qualities.
Elaa focuses on carefully sourced fruit-kernel and specialty botanical oils chosen according to freshness, stability, extraction quality, fatty-acid composition, and beneficial plant compounds. We do not use commodity sunflower oil as a primary carrier oil.
Many Elaa oils are produced through low-temperature CO₂ extraction at temperatures up to 104°F, or 40°C. This method helps capture oil-soluble botanical compounds while closely reflecting the profile of the raw plant material.
CO₂-extracted oils generally offer greater oxidative stability and a longer shelf life than comparable cold-pressed carrier oils. They contain oil-soluble constituents rather than carbohydrates, proteins, or inorganic salts, and they are selected from suppliers with stringent heavy-metal specifications.
Elaa products are carefully balanced for stability, freshness, sensory quality, and cosmetic performance.
Oxidation can alter an oil and increase its sensitizing potential, which is why sourcing, formulation, storage, and handling are so important.
Elaa’s oils are kept refrigerated and protected from unnecessary heat, light, and air exposure. Our low-temperature manufacturing practices further limit heat exposure.
Miron violet glass helps protect the finished formulas from UV light. More oxidation-resistant oils and additional antioxidants are incorporated where appropriate to help maintain freshness and slow oxidation.
Elaa also offers products made without fruit-kernel oils for those who prefer that.
I am allergic to latex. Can I use your products?
We only use inner leaf aloe vera that has been processed to remove aloe latex. The latex, a yellow substance containing anthraquinones like aloin, is found just under the outer rind of the aloe leaf and is separate from the inner gel.
Aloe latex and natural rubber latex are different substances. Removing aloe latex does not, by itself, establish that a finished product is suitable for someone with a latex allergy. If you have a diagnosed latex allergy, please review the specific product’s full ingredient list with your allergist before use.
