The Elaa Ritual

1. Wash your hands
Begin with freshly washed, thoroughly dried hands.
2. Prepare the skin
Optional: Press a warm, damp washcloth gently against your face for a few seconds. Pat the skin completely dry. Always use warm rather than hot water to protect the skin barrier.
3. Apply Radiant River to dry skin
Make sure your face and hands are completely dry. Applying the oil to dry skin allows it to mingle most effectively with makeup, excess oil, and daily residue.
Dispense approximately two to three pumps of Radiant River into your palm. Use enough oil to glide comfortably over the skin without pulling, but avoid applying more than necessary.
Using your fingertips, gently massage the oil over your face, neck, décolletage, and anywhere else you wish to cleanse.
4. Allow the oil to cleanse
If you are new to oil cleansing: Leave the oil on for approximately 90 seconds before removing it. Continue with this timing for the first four weeks. You may then gradually increase the time, working up to a maximum of 10 minutes.
If you are experienced with oil cleansing: Begin with five minutes and leave the oil on for up to 10 minutes.
Very dry skin may absorb much of the oil during this time. If needed, apply a little more, massage it into the skin, and continue to the removal step after approximately 30 seconds.
5. Remove the first layer of oil
When removing makeup or heavier product residue: Gently wipe away the oil with a dry cloth before introducing water. This is one of my favorite options because it is disposable and eco-friendly. Once the oil has been removed, you may splash the skin with warm water if desired.
For a lighter daily cleanse: Mist the face with one of our toners and gently massage the moistened skin. Wipe away the oil with a soft cloth. This is also one of my favorite cloths for removing cleansing oils and masks, and it is disposable and biodegradable.

6. Complete the removal process
Take a fresh cloth—a different one from the cloth used during the first removal step—and wet it with warm water.
Press the cloth gently into the skin and wipe thoroughly without scrubbing. Rinse the cloth in warm water, squeeze out the excess water, and wipe again. Repeat until the cleansing oil and loosened residue have been completely removed. Gently pat the skin dry.
7. Tone the skin
Mist the face with your chosen Elaa toner and gently sweep the skin with an organic cotton pad. These are my favorite cotton pads.
8. Double cleanse when needed
If you are removing makeup, heavier skin-care products, or substantial daily residue—or if oil remains on the skin after the first cleanse—follow Radiant River with a second cleanse.
Golden Sunrise Cleansing Cream is an ideal water-based, non-surfactant option. Dispense several pumps into your palm, add a little water, and massage your hands together. Massage the cream over the face in circular motions, rinse thoroughly with warm water, and pat dry.
